My Story

In developing copy for this site, I’ve realized how strange it is to try and convey who you are and what you stand for in just a few short sentences someone will read on the internet. That said, here’s my best shot at it:

As you might have seen on the home page, I am a proud Aggie with two degrees from Texas A&M. I enjoy going back to College Station for football games and seeing friends every chance I get. I was born in Texarkana (on the Texas side, mind you) and spent one or two early years in Oklahoma City. However, I grew up in the greater Waco area for most of my life. A small town named West, Texas (the kolache place) is where I call home and graduated high school. I played a couple of different sports in high school. Although I was never exceptionally talented at them, I enjoyed the game and my teammates. I met the core of my friend group in West, and the majority of them ended up going to A&M as well. Out of high school, my initial intent was to go to medical school, hence the Biomedical Sciences undergraduate degree. While I still enjoy science and medicine, I certainly didn’t love it enough to spend four-plus more years in school for it. Instead, I decided to go to business school as it seemed like that would give me the broadest range of opportunities. I have always had a bit of an entrepreneurial streak in me, so it seemed like a good fit. I was correct in this regard; I took to it like a fish in water.

In my free time, I am constantly finding new things to do. I have never been big on watching TV, so I always start new projects or learn about new topics. Although I also have many hobbies that I like to do, I force myself to have no more than five at any given time to prevent myself from winding up in the poor house. My current hobbies are photography, reloading ammunition, working in the garage on cars or woodworking projects, hiking, and hunting any time I get the chance. I try to spend time each day working on building strong habits and improving myself however possible. I read every day, frequently work out, and spend time on my relationship with God. I have other habits that come and go, but these seem to be the ones that have formed a strong foundation for me.

I am unfortunately getting on up there in years, as I have just hit the quarter of a century mark (I now loathe disclosing this). The hangovers definitely hurt more than they used to. That aside, one thing that is true about me is that I’ve spent a significant amount of time getting to know myself over the years, which you’ll begin to see throughout this website. I know where I excel and where I fall short. I know what I value and hold myself to a higher standard than anyone ever could. Your expectations will never be high than my own. I’m equipped and ready to take on new challenges and opportunities using my strengths, skills, and other abilities to ensure success. But enough about me, I’m sure you’ll get to know plenty throughout this site - or if you are up for it, over a beer or dinner.

My Work

Texas A&M AgriLife Extension

I worked for the AgriLife extension throughout my time in college, starting in the fall of 2016. More specifically, I worked for the Copy Services division. Copy Services had the responsibility of producing printed materials for various extension departments as well as other state agencies and the occasional third party. It was a good job made better by getting to work with fun, laid-back people. I started primarily with more menial tasks, but as I gained more experience, I learned more and more about the various machines and processes. When Copy Services was faced with moving to a much smaller location, I was able to play a prominent role in the logistics of moving. After the retirement of my full-time supervisor, I became the “go-to guy” for many different tasks and guided the other student workers. Unfortunately, Copy Services was disbanded by the AgriLife Extension within a year of my graduation and departure.
